In the winter semester:
- You were a full-time university student
- You applied for assistance through the Province of Nova Scotia for that semester
- Your application for student assistance was processed and an assessment was completed
- You will be taking at least 1 full credit or 2 half credit course(s) beginning within two months of your winter semester ending
- If you are taking a course(s), it will be credited to the same program you were taking during the winter semester
- If you are taking courses, you will be:
- attending the same university as you did in the winter semester; OR
- attending classes at a different university, using a letter of permission from your 'home' university
If you are on a letter of permission:
- You will be eligible for an extension only if your home university agrees to sign the loan document.
- You will be required to send a copy of your letter of permission as part of your application.
- If your university will not sign the document, you may be able to apply on a new application. See the Application for Spring/Summer Session - Confirmation of Program for the course load requirements.
There is a deadline to apply. If your last extension course ends anytime in June, you must apply before May 15th; if your last extension course ends anytime in July, you must apply before June 15. See the table below:
