Applications for Summer Loan Extensions are only available on our website from April 1 to July 15.
If you are applying for funding to complete a clinical, placement or internship, submit a separate application (not an extension application) and provide an Application for Spring/Summer Session - Confirmation of Program form. Please note your previous application may have included funding for the clinical, placement or internship as part of your program. For example: if you were funded for 42 weeks of study on your fall/winter application your costs would have been included. If this situation is not applicable, continue with your extension application.
You will not be required to send a Pre-study report however you must report your income for your pre-study period (not in class) and study period (in class).
Each total of 12 weeks of study in an extension is counted as a semester of study, or half year in your total program. (For example: if you received 6 weeks of funding for a summer extension in 2009 and you receive 6 weeks of funding for your extension for 2010, your program length will be reduced by a semester.)
Dropping courses or switching courses may affect your eligibility for funding through the extension period that may result in over awards.
You must submit a copy of your transcript showing successful completion of your extension period to the Nova Scotia Student Assistance office no later than October 1st of the year of your extension period.
To be eligible for an extension on your most recent application, the following statements must all be TRUE.
